About the Event

The Power in Diversity Employee Research Group (ERG), with support from the Corporate Communications Team, presents:

So often we unintentionally alienate our peers through our words or actions in email or in meetings. A few key changes to the way we communicate can foster inclusion, increase engagement and combat harmful stigmas we may not be aware exist. We are in a time that requires people at all levels of our organization to recognize the seriousness and impact of our words on how welcome and included our employees feel, especially during a crisis that could invite stigmas and xenophobia.

In this 45-minute presentation with a live polling exercise and Q&A, Kim Clark, an experienced and engaging diversity and inclusion communications expert, will help us tackle our unconscious biases, acknowledge areas where our bias exists, and help us see that we are well-positioned to be more intentionally inclusive. Specifically, Kim will offer actionable steps that both individuals and teams can take:

  • What unconscious bias is, how it shows up and its impact
  • How to call special attention to individual groups while being inclusive of all
  • How to manage our teams with a sense of belonging
  • How to be and how to teach others to be a conscious communicator
  • Why inclusion efforts must continue to be a priority even in times of crisis
  • How to be inclusive in verbal, visual and written communications

Special Bonus: All attendees will receive a post-event summary with key takeaways and the Q&A!
